Stories: Jogging
Time in Prespa is definitely faster than the internet.
There's just not enough hours in a day here.
Every time I want to update my weblog, there's so many things that happened that I hardly know where to start. So let's just add some small stories. Sometimes...
Jogging
I love jogging in the mountains. I go every day for at least one hour. Running up and down the hills. Sounds maybe boring, but it sometimes turns out to be quite interesting. Actually it's kind of a survival.
After switching off my happy alarmclock I jump out of my bed, finding my way in the dark to the bathroom without waking my housemates. Carefully I walk down the stairs, hoping that he won't hear me. My hands are reaching for my shoes, when I hear a small rumor. Shit! He's got me! He jumps upon me! He attacks, runs, he bites... the strings of my shoes. HAGIS!! This housetiger is everywhere.
After a struggle with our cat I finally wear my shoes, and find my way to the door, without letting him escape. Looking around if there's no mad dog following me, or the herd of sheep is not present, I start my day. I go down to the river, jump, cross it, and run up the hill that leads to the path in the mountains. The way I used to go every day...
Every day... Just an ordinary day. In Prespa? Don't think so. Because what could happen to you...
- People want to give you a lift, because they don't understand that you're out for a run, because you want to make sports. Physical exersize? Never heard of! Somebody likes to walk?? That's insane!!
- Being picked up by the boarder police
- Who of course doesn't speak any English
- Who tells you that it's a very dangerous place
- Because there's Albanians with guns walking around
- And the hunting season has just started
- Being taken in the car of the boarder police
- Who doesn't bring you home, but shows you around the whole area for more than an hour
- Very nice, untill he turns out to be a Casenova, and you have to tell him you want to go home - TORA - right now!!
- Almost being attacked by shepherd dogs and the angry shepherd, because you disturb the sheep
- Yes they stop walking when you pass by. So what? They're up the mountain more than 5 meters above you
- So you have to go down the rocks - abseiling - hoping to be unseen
- Undiscovered by the angry shepherd and his dogs
- Almost falling in the river
- Meeting a snake!! (of about 30 centimeters =)
Tomorrow morning I'll go again... For jogging.
